//UPDATED 3/27: Tax Information Updates from Brandt Accounting

The following information was updated as of 10:00 am, Friday, March 27.

In the midst of all of the confusion and uncertainty caused by the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we here at Brandt Accounting want to provide you with an update about important changes related to your income taxes for the 2019 tax year. Some of you may have already completed and filed your tax returns; others may be waiting for our office to complete your returns; and still others are working to get all of your information together and are trying to figure out how and when to get that information to us. No matter the situation you find yourself in, please know that we are willing to help and assist you in any way that we can. Unfortunately, our office is currently closed to the public until further notice.

The IRS, the state of Pennsylvania, and the Lancaster County Tax Collection Bureau (LCTCB) have all extended the deadline for filing and paying any taxes that would have been due on April 15. The deadline for filing returns and making payments is now July 15. This means that if you have not yet filed your returns, if you have a balance due on your income tax returns, or if you have first quarter 2020 estimated tax payments that would have been due on April 15, you now have until July 15 to file those returns and/or make those payments without any fear of interest or penalties being charged to you. The IRS has also extended the deadline for making tax deductible contributions into an IRA for the 2019 tax year. The deadline for making these contributions has also been extended until July 15.

We are aware of the variety of legislative acts and bills that are being passed to provide relief to individual taxpayers and small businesses during this time. Please continue to check our website at www.brandtaccounting.com for future updates. We will do our best to provide summaries, articles, and links regarding these changes as we become aware of them. Many of our team here at Brandt Accounting will be working from home to complete tax returns and other important forms that you made need as quickly as possible. We will call you when your returns have been completed and we are able to reopen for pickup. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause for you. Thank you for your patience and understanding during these challenging times. If you have any questions or need to provide additional information to us, please call and leave a message at the office (717-665-2849) or send an email to info@brandtaccounting.com.

Respectfully,
Randy L. Brandt, CPA
